New York is the performing arts capital of the country, and a Broadway trip reaches further than most groups expect. Music, dance, and theater groups can see a Broadway production, spend a morning in a rehearsal studio with someone who performs on Broadway for a living, and trace the history of the American stage through the city’s museums. Groups that want a stage of their own can perform at some of the city’s best known venues and public spaces.
The Challenge of Broadway Trips
New York is among the more demanding cities to bring a group to. Reservations are difficult to secure, traffic affects every part of the day, and a schedule that works in planning rarely holds once a group is moving. The experiences most groups travel for, a workshop with a working performer or a stage of their own, aren’t sold to the public. And the trip is only half the work, since the administrative side falls to the group leader alongside the program they already run.
We manage both, securing the shows, the restaurants, and the workshops well in advance and ordering the days so your group isn’t losing them to transit. Enrollment, payments, and traveler communication run through our team from the start, and on the trip someone who knows this city is reachable at any hour.

What a real Broadway trip looks like:
Day 1 – Times Square & the Theater District
Walk the Theater District with a guide who knows its history, from the houses still running to the ones long gone, then take your seats for a Broadway show.
Day 2 – Workshop & Matinee
Open the morning in a rehearsal studio with a working Broadway performer, then carry the notes straight into an afternoon matinee and dinner in Hell’s Kitchen.
Day 3 – Museums & Downtown
Break from the theaters for a morning in the museums, then ride the subway down to SoHo and Greenwich Village for the evening.
Day 4 – Your Performance
Rehearse at your venue in the morning, perform for a New York audience in the afternoon, and close the trip with a group dinner that night.
The trip that makes an impact
The Experience
Your group sees a show on Broadway one night and walks into a rehearsal studio a few blocks away the next morning, working the same material with someone who does it for a living. They ask better questions because they’ve just watched the answers, and a note from a working professional lands differently than one from a teacher they see every day. Backstage tours and the museums fill in the rest, so by the end of the week they have a sense of the scale of it that a seat in the audience never gives them.
For groups that perform, a stage here asks more than a home audience does, because the room didn’t come to see them and has no reason to stay. Most come off that stage steadier than they walked onto it, and group leaders tell us it shows at the next audition and through the rest of the season.

Why Do a Broadway Trip with ET Tours?
No two of our trips look quite the same, because we start with you. Tell us what you’re hoping your group takes away from it, and we’ll shape the trip around that, right down to the dates that work for your calendar.
The planner who quotes your trip stays with you through it. The same person who designs your proposal makes your revisions and can travel with your group on the road. You get one point of contact who knows your trip because they built it with you.
For families, that means a trip run by people who have done this for decades. We’ve been planning group travel for over 50 years, we’re accredited by SYTA, IATAN, ARC, and NTA, and every detail from transportation to accommodations is vetted before your group ever leaves. Our custom pricing is transparent, with no upsells and no surprises, and payment plans are available so cost never has to be the reason anyone stays home.
The Difference a Custom Broadway Trip Makes
With a packaged tour, you get a fixed schedule and it’s on you to make your group fit it. We’d rather do it the other way around, building the trip around your group and what they want out of it, so every day feels like it belongs there.
A few of our favorite trips
Theater Program
See Broadway and Off-Broadway in the same week, go backstage at a working house to watch a production run, and take an acting or audition class with a performer currently in a show.
Music Ensemble
Perform at one of the city’s known venues, work through a clinic with a Broadway music director, and sit close enough at a musical to hear what the pit is doing.
Dance Group
Take class from a Broadway choreographer, learn a combination from a production that’s running now, and see it danced that night by the cast it belongs to.
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
FAQs
How far in advance should we book?
Nine to twelve months is comfortable for New York. Popular titles and spring dates fill earliest, and hotels that can take a group book out well ahead. We can work with a shorter timeline, so it’s worth asking even if your dates are close.
Can our group perform while we're in New York?
Yes, and many groups do. The venue depends on your season, your group size, and what you’re performing, so tell us early if this matters to you. We schedule rehearsal time into the trip rather than leaving it to be fit in between other stops.
Who leads the workshops?
Working performers and industry professionals rather than tour staff. Sessions cover acting, voice, musical theater dance, audition technique, and the technical side of a production. We match the session to your group’s discipline and experience level, and most classes suit ages ten and up.
How does the group get around the city?
It depends on the day. Some days work best on a motorcoach and others on the subway or on foot, and traffic decides more than the map does. We order the stops so travel time doesn’t take the day, and the group moves together throughout.
Which shows will my child see, and are they age appropriate?
Titles are chosen with your group leader, and we provide content and age guidance for every option before anything is booked. If a production isn’t right for the age of your group, we say so and offer alternatives.
How are students supervised, especially at night?
Your student travels with named tour managers alongside your group’s own chaperones, with vetted transportation and accommodations throughout. Chaperones stay on the same floor as students, room checks happen at a set time each night, and a 24/7 emergency line reaches our team at any hour.
What's included in the price?
Your quote lays out exactly what’s covered, typically transportation, accommodations, show tickets, workshops, and many meals. Because every trip is custom, we make the full inclusions clear before you commit, so students only need spending money for souvenirs and personal extras.
I went on my first Educational Tours trip in 1996 and again in 1999 as a high school student. Because of the core memory I wanted to give this opportunity to the next generation. This last year I started up the history tour back in the local towns high school and contacted Todd and his team. And you can see they have many years of experience and connections. They were so easy to work with and the communication was amazing. They did so much work and made this trip a success. We are looking forward to doing it again!

Last weekend we took our choir to Tuacahn with Educational Tours and had the best experience! They took care of everything – payments, tickets, dinners, workshops, hotels — all for such a reasonable price. Our group had a flawless trip. We would definitely do it again!
